The Full Story
About Etherlan
Back in 2006, Harold Espinosa and Hank Wall noticed that the gaming population in Southern Manitoba was growing. So they came up with a plan to host the first ever Etherlan.
Their thought was, let's bring out as many gamers as possible, charge them a small fee to game as much as they want for the entire weekend, hand out prizes, and most importantly...teach them about God! It was decided before the first Etherlan even got off the ground, that this was going to become a fundraiser for a church in Puerto Rico. This church had partnered with The Bunker for missions trips, and decided that their community in Puerto Rico could really use their own version of The Bunker.
So with a goal in mind, and Jesus in their hearts, Harold & Hank set off to create a team to help them pull of Etherlan.
La Fortaleza - Bunker (The Bunker in Fajardo Puerto Rico) was completed in 2015 and has now started running programs out of it as of 2019.
Fast forward to 2022, Etherlan has had many volunteers and sponsors over the past many years, but their goal remains the same; To raise money to help support The Bunker (La Fortaleza - Bunker) in Puerto Rico.
Mission
Our ultimate goal is to share the good news of Christ in an environment that the gaming community will feel comfortable in.
We also use Etherlan as the main fundraising opportunities for La Fortaleza (The Bunker) Puerto Rico.
A MESSAGE FROM HAROLD
October 2022 Etherlan
Thank you once again for being part of this amazing ministry! With your help, we raised $3500.00. What a blessing!
Funds will be going to El Fortaleza (The Bunker) in Puerto Rico. This Bunker ministry is a place to reach teens with the gospel and give youth a safe environment to connect in Puerto Rico. A local church is running this ministry in the community of Fajardo.
A huge thank you to the volunteers and Etherlan Family Admin Team, who made this possible. With out them, we can’t put this ministry in action. Also, we would like to thank all the supporters like SolutionsIT.ca for prizes, Domino’s Pizza for the pizza, individuals that donated prizes and funds, Valley Fiber for internet, Gamers Disco for prizes and running tournaments, PV E-Sports leading tournaments, Espinosa Custom Trophies, The Bunker ministry, and Sixteen13 Ministry.
Since 2004, Etherlan ministry is all about building relationships with Gamers, reminding them they are not alone, praying with and for them, and sharing the gospel.
The scripture says in John 15:12-13: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Jesus’ love for people is extravagant. While we are not able to literally lay down our lives on a daily basis for others, we can choose to lay down our lives and love extravagantly in smaller practical ways. For instance, we can choose to go out of our way to help someone, to be kind, to encourage, and be a friend who listens. These are a some acts of love , we all can do.
